We respect the work of artists, photographers and designers, and we expect the same from everyone who uses our site. This page explains how copyright owners can tell us about material they believe infringes their copyright, following the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and how someone whose material was removed can respond. For trademarks, logos and other rights, see our Intellectual Property Policy.
\n
\n
DMCA at a glance
\n
\n
Where to send notices: support@teetopia.shop, subject “DMCA Notice”.
\n
Postal address: Teetopia, 2964 E Parkriver Dr, Boise, ID 83706, US.
\n
What we need: the six elements listed in section 2, including your signature and good-faith statements.
\n
What we do: review the notice, remove or disable access to the material where appropriate, and inform the person who provided it.
\n
Counter-notices: accepted at the same address, as described in section 5.
\n
Acknowledgement: we confirm receipt of complete notices within 24 hours on business days.
\n
\n
\n
1. What this policy covers
\n
This policy covers material that appears on teetopia.shop, such as product images, design artwork, mockups, page text and any images or files hosted on the site. It also covers orders: if you believe a customer asked us to print your copyrighted artwork or photo on a shirt, hoodie, sweatshirt or hat, you can use this process to tell us, and we will review open orders and future requests with that work in mind.
\n
Copyright protects original creative works such as illustrations, photographs, written text and graphic designs. It does not protect short common phrases, names, ideas or facts by themselves. Brand names and logos are usually protected by trademark law rather than copyright; for those, our Intellectual Property Policy explains the process.
\n
2. How to send a copyright notice
\n
Send your notice by email to support@teetopia.shop with the subject line “DMCA Notice”, or by post to Teetopia, 2964 E Parkriver Dr, Boise, ID 83706, US. To be effective under the DMCA, your notice must include:
\n
\n
Identification of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed. If several works are involved, a representative list is fine. A link to where the original work is published helps a lot.
\n
Identification of the material on teetopia.shop that you believe infringes, with enough detail for us to find it. The full page URL, plus a description of the image or text, is best.
\n
Your contact information: name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
\n
A good-faith statement that you believe the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
\n
An accuracy statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
\n
Your physical or electronic signature. A typed full name at the end of an email is accepted as an electronic signature.
\n
\n
Notices that leave out required elements may not be actionable. If something is missing, we will reply and tell you what we need, so you can send a complete notice.
\n
\n
Checklist for a complete DMCA notice
\n
\n
\n
Element
\n
Example
\n
Required?
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Original work
\n
“My illustration ‘Lake Sunrise Bass’, published at my portfolio link”
\n
Yes
\n
\n
\n
Location on our site
\n
“Product page URL, second gallery image”
\n
Yes
\n
\n
\n
Contact details
\n
Name, address, phone, email
\n
Yes
\n
\n
\n
Good-faith statement
\n
“I have a good-faith belief that this use is not authorised…”
\n
Yes
\n
\n
\n
Accuracy statement under penalty of perjury
\n
“The information is accurate and I am the owner or authorised…”
\n
Yes
\n
\n
\n
Signature
\n
Typed full name
\n
Yes
\n
\n
\n
Evidence of ownership
\n
Registration number, original file, earlier publication date
\n
Helpful, not required
\n
\n
\n
\n
3. What happens after we receive a notice
\n
\n
Acknowledgement. We confirm receipt within 24 hours on business days.
\n
Review. We check that the notice is complete and locate the material.
\n
Action. Where the notice is complete and the material is on our site, we remove it or disable access to it promptly. If the material relates to an order that has not been printed yet, we pause that order and contact the customer.
\n
Notification. We tell the person who provided the material (for example, the customer who supplied the image) that it was removed, and give them a copy of the notice with your personal contact details handled as the law requires.
\n
Record. We keep a record of the notice and our action.
\n
\n
4. Orders and customer-supplied content
\n
Customers personalise Teetopia items through the order notes box at checkout, using their own words and, for some designs, a photo. Our Terms of Service require that customers have the right to use any text or images they send us. When we receive a valid notice about customer-supplied content, we will not print that content, we will cancel affected unprinted items with a full refund to the customer within 7 days, and we will decline future orders that use the same work without permission.
\n
Customer photos are kept only to print the order and are deleted 30 days after delivery, as explained in our Privacy Policy. They are never displayed publicly on teetopia.shop.
\n
5. Counter-notices
\n
If material you provided was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, or that you have permission or a legal right to use it, you may send a counter-notice to the same email or postal address. It must include:
\n
\n
identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal;
\n
a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
\n
your name, address and telephone number;
\n
a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Teetopia may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent;
\n
your physical or electronic signature.
\n
\n
When we receive a complete counter-notice, we send a copy to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us they have filed a court action to stop the use of the material, we may restore the material within the time the DMCA allows, normally 10 to 14 business days after receiving the counter-notice.
\n
6. Repeat infringers
\n
We may close accounts and refuse future orders from people who repeatedly provide material that infringes copyright, in appropriate circumstances.
\n
7. Misrepresentation
\n
Under US law, anyone who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a notice or counter-notice may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Before sending a notice, please consider whether the use might be authorised or allowed by law, for example as fair use. If you are unsure, you may want to speak with a lawyer.
\n
8. Our own artwork
\n
The Teetopia name, logo, page text and our own design artwork belong to Teetopia or are used with permission. If you believe your work has been used in our own designs without permission, use the same notice process. We take these reports seriously and review them with the same care.
\n
9. Before you send a notice: quick questions
\n
Is this the right page for a logo or brand name?
\n
Usually not. Logos and brand names are trademarks. Use the process in our Intellectual Property Policy; it asks for similar details.
\n
Can I just email a link without the formal statements?
\n
Yes, as a first step, and we will look. To act under the DMCA, though, we need the complete notice described in section 2.
\n
Will the customer see my contact details?
\n
The DMCA process involves sharing the notice with the person who provided the material so they can respond. We share only what is needed for that process.
\n
How long does the whole process take?
\n
We acknowledge complete notices within 24 hours on business days and act on them promptly after review. Most straightforward cases, such as a single product image, are resolved within a few business days. Counter-notices follow the timing described in section 5.
\n
What if the material is on another website?
\n
We can only act on material hosted on teetopia.shop or on orders placed with us. For a copy on another site or marketplace, contact that site directly.
\n
10. Examples
\n
A photographer’s image used as a product photo
\n
A photographer finds one of their lifestyle photos used on a product page. They send a notice with the page URL, a link to their original publication, their contact details, the two statements and a typed signature. We confirm receipt, remove the image, and replace it with our own artwork or a neutral placeholder. The product page stays online without the image.
\n
An illustrator’s design requested on a shirt
\n
An illustrator learns that a customer sent their artwork for a custom tee. They send a notice describing the illustration and the order situation. We pause any unprinted order using that art, contact the customer, refund the affected items in full within 7 days and decline the design in future orders without written permission.
\n
A mistaken notice
\n
A notice names a design that the sender believes copies their work, but the design was created by the customer from their own family photo. The customer sends a counter-notice with the required statements. We forward it to the original sender and follow the counter-notice process in section 5.
\n
11. Good practice for customers
\n
If you send us a photo or artwork to print, use pictures you took yourself or have permission to use: family snapshots, your own drawings, your team’s own artwork that you are authorised to use. Pictures found online, cartoon characters and professional photos usually belong to someone else. When in doubt, describe what you want in words in the order notes, and email us first if you are unsure.
\n
12. Contact
\n
DMCA notices and counter-notices: support@teetopia.shop, subject “DMCA Notice” or “DMCA Counter-Notice”.
